Broken wings

I used to fly, so high in the sky

I used to see, the clouds near me, and I was free

I used to feel, the air so real yet so unreal

I used to touch, the cold and the warmth

I used to have wings,

But now they’ve fallen

And my body is fragile

And incomplete.

And broken.

“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” ― Leonardo da Vinci
